Strong regulations in the food & beverage industry and the increasing competitive pressure demand positioning solutions which can be cleaned fast an easily. More and more aggressive cleaning agents are used, sometimes even at high temperatures. Components must resist these loads.

The new optical absolute encoders GE404 are made of highly resistive V4A stainless steel of class 1.4404 or 1.4435. The sealings are made of Viton, have a high resistance against chemical agents and high temperature. Also the sealings are non-aging. The encoders are leak-proof with protection IP 67. This results in high resistance and lifetime even if cleaning happens regularly with aggressive agents. Very good hygiene levels within short time can be achieved. The robust ShaftLock bearing construction is well-proven for over 15 years.

This prevents machine downtime due to vibration and high shaft loads which occur in production and during cleaning.

The new series offers high resolutions of 14 bit single turn and 12 bit multi turn thanks to the optical sensing principle. This allows precise positioning even at high velocity of up to 10.000 rpm. Optional incremental tracks allow for additional speed control with the same encoder. SSI interface and other series with many other field bus interfaces are available. Electronic setting of zero point, counting direction input and diagnostic functions make installation and service easy.
